Flowable or Pourable Epoxy for Oil Cooler

Is anyone familiar with flowable or pourable epoxy, which can withstand heat and flowing oil?

When I was at Daytona 24 Hours, I saw the Corvette team using a flowable epoxy to repair a metal casing which looked like a transmission case - they poured the epoxy onto a surface, and then used heat from a blow torch to cure the epoxy more quickly. It seeme to work, for they then went back out and the car did not retire.

Is is possible to use solder or bronze to effect a repair on brass tubes of an oil cooler instead? Some small tubes have separated from the bottom of the oil cooler, and one can't get a localized soldering joint into the small space between tubes; however, a flowable expoxy or flowing solder might do the trick. Please help if you know how....Andras

If your oil cooler is starting to come apart, you have two choices. The first is to have it replaced. The second is to have a competent radiator shop take a look at it to assess the possibility of repair. Keep in mind that even if repaired, it is likely that it may degrade further in the future. Flowable epoxy is like JB weld. It would require operating room cleanliness for the cooler prep and a huge amount to seal the base of the tubes. But, as you know, the oil cooler runs at system oil pressure. Save the headaches and get a new one. BTW which car?

This is something that you have to rely on...If you loose oil, you will damage the engine. I would take it to a pro in the repair of that type of metal or REPLACE it outright.
