Greetings,
I tracked a slight oil leak to the Cam Servo Magnet on my 1990 300CE. I seems to be leaking slightly from either around the Servo or from the electric connector. Its hard to tell from the diagrams, is the leak caused by a bad internal seal of the Servo, or is it from the seal/cover that is located just behind the front timing cover. I don't mind spending the money on the parts, but I want to make sure I am getting the right parts. Hopefully one of the MB guru's on here can give me some insight on this. Thanks! ------------------ 1990 300CE-24 1995 Jeep Wrangler 1995 Ford Thunderbird |

It is sealed from leakage out of the electrical connector. It is leaking between the acuator and the cover. You can take out the 5mm allen bolts and clean the surfaces. Apply a small film of Hylomar or equiv. to both surfaces and reassemble.
We use the factory sealant for this, but most do not have access to this $15 dollar tube of sealer. The Hylomar will work fine. ------------------ Benzmac: 1981 280GE SWB 1987 16V ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
