Once in a while, for a while, when I put my 83 240D into reverse, and the lights were on, the Dashboard guages would flicker crazily. Now it happens every time when I turn my lights on. I hear something clicking, but that could just be the turn signal relay going crazy too. Where do I start to look? respectfully, RTC

You need an Electrical Troubleshooting Manual. We sell them on the CD set for the 123. (hint. the CD is broken into 2. One is for gas and the other is for Diesel.)
You may try to split the cost with someone.

You have a ground problem somewhere.

Just as of this moment I was heading into my garage to reground the dash when I heard the mail sound go off. Thats where I always start on older cars.
I apologize for not buying parts or the CD. Well when you have kids, you worry-- Part of the reason i love the 83-85 Benzs is that, used, they are incredible values and safe.
If I ever do run into you, I will buy both you or Mr Scheeler the best beer I can buy.
