I bought the car with 76,000 miles. I have so far bought a new exhaust, new tires, new brakes and new water pump. Now experiencing hesitation before getting into gear(just in morning). I now have 97,000 miles on the mb. Is it time to trade this baby in? Should I just keep up the repairs? is it worth it?

Mooch,

Take a look WAAYYY back in the threads. You'll see one in particular where I pissed off the entire North America Mercedes-Benz community with concerns similiar to yours (I called Merc-Benz's junk).

I'd just bought a 89 190E 2.6 and replace the same items you did, save for the water pump. I was upset when things kept breaking. It was a money pit!

But, I kept fixing problems, one by one...

Now... I would never buy another car but a Mercedes. Currently I'm shopping for a new C Class for my wife.

My advice is hang in there and be patient.

About the trans., let it warm up longer, AND check you trans. fuild. It may need changing. I had the same problem, and it was due to low trans fuild.

Good Luck

Is this an engine hesitation or a transmission hesitation before going into gear.?

I can't really tell if it's trans or engine. It sounds like the engine revs before it finally shifts into gear.

So far some of those things that you mentioned are typical maintenance, ie, tires, breaks, exhaust (isn't SS) or did you run over something? I'd listen to these guys on this thread and / or have a mechanic check it out. It could be something not too too major, i.e., fuel pump. Only a couple more hundred bucks and you're in business.

I would have it checked out and would not lose faith yet. I always felt that the 190 wasn't as durable as the larger models, but I do know a lot of people who have success stories as well.
