You Guys On This Board Are .....

GREAT. I took my car to the shop my a/c was not working. They kept it all day and could not get the aux. fans to work. The closest merecedes dealer is three hours away. I came home did a search on here and found out both fuses on the relays were shot, replace the fuses and there be cold air again, with both fans running so it will not blow it out again. Thanks alot Dairel

I'm glad SOMEBODY is getting service around here.

Wish I could say the same.

The 'clique' only answers certain threads.

Duke,

PLEASE! If someone knows the answer to your problems, then it will be answered. There are no "cliques" here.

I just did a search on your posts and it would appear that you have received some pretty good responses to your questions. Granted, you didn't get any takers on your sale of the new, unneeded starter, but the rest looked pretty good. If you don't act on the suggestions (check the light codes, for example), you really can't complain.

It would appear that you have accomplished a lot of appearance items on your MB, but now some of the mechanicals are giving you fits. That is unfortunate, but I wouldn't take it out on the guys who spend a lot of their valuable time providing many of us with valuable help on the forum.

Good luck with your car problems. I hope that you eventually get things sorted out and, after a little hindsight on your part, can feel better about the help available on the forum.

Wes

What click?
I answer questions that I feel reasonably certain that I am getting right. I'm sure you could always stop by your friendly Benz dealer and get your questions answered by the Service Advisor. Hopefully, they will be right.
good luck

Isn't there a Renault board run by Clique and Claque, les freres Tappet?

(Sorry--should have tried a lot harder to suppress that one!)

There are no clicks here!

I am a DIY'er, if I know I can help, I will answer or suggest a solution to the question. If I don't, I just don't respond. The "service" is FREE so there is no room to complaint. Unless you feel entlited to a refund.
Granted, there are some postings that are more popular than others but...nothing is perfect, even MercedesShop.

Well , Clickity Clack...How 'bout That !!!!
Guess it is a members preference/choice to answer/ask/contribute to each/any post ...
And , I guess that's the way it should be....

While I am at it ....
Sickens me to see one DEMAND an answer , specially when their post has been up a whole 20 min. ..
This is not an "Operators are Standing By" SERVICE.... center It is a free voluntary FORUM...

and a great one . at that...

The fastest way to get ignored is to be rude. The techs here work on cars all day and then contribute to the site for FREE. Those DIY's on the board will help wherever they can.

With your C280 starting problem you failed to mention which year of C280 you own. This is a problem right there, as the C280 has had two different drivelines, and many issues related to the model year. Mileage? That can also be useful info.

As to the problem resolution, the newer OBDII cars are VERY difficult to diagnose from a distance. The CE light can be triggered with donzens of faults. And with the newer cars, all kinds of faults can cause rough running and poor starting. The firs step with any OBDII car with a CE light is to pull the codes, and that's not something you can do without proper tools (code reader) or taking to it a shop. I saw you post, saw the first response to "pull codes" and thought "that's what I would say" and moved on.

It is not the fault of the people here is you don't like the advice. Sometimes we cannot provide a "free" solution. The fact is that unless you have the right stuff in your garage, you might have to have an expert touch the car.

Instead of:

Excuse me, but:

WOULD SOMEBODY REPLY TO MY DANG THREADS?!!!!!!!!!!!

You might try "To the top" or "Anyone" and bump the thread to the top so that new eyes might have a look.

I have saved THOUSANDS of dollars by being a member here, and if there was less than a week's drive between myself and DOC, Donnie or Steve, you can bet your a$$ I'd be getting my car serviced there. If you want "snap to" service, go pay $90 an hour to the dealer. Mine has "free" coffee, loaner cars, etc. An they just about always answer the phone on the first few rings.

I answer posts where I know specific answers and where an obvious point can be made.

I have erased many a post where the only point I could make was the info given was so poor no post could be made. Three symptoms and a crystal ball aren't my way of doing things. I often explain what the diagnostic process is knowing there isn't a chance in the world that such info will be used by the author.

As such the answers to an amazing number of problems exist on this site. The testing necessary has been described. I am quick to answer posts with data or asking for specific questions about procedure. I don't answer posts that ask: My car is blue and I have replaced everything in the ignition and the lights in the barn don't work, what should I buy next?

I also am getting tired of answering command posts. Those are ones where someone asks me to look-up and provide info on demand. I have driven to the shop on weekends to answer a question, but I won't do it on demand.

Many of the technician only sites I participate in require appropriate research be done before questions are brought before the group. This is written in the rules and is enforced by peer comment.

helping

Man I did not mean to get this arguement started, I just wanted to thank everyone for their help, there has been post that I have started in the past where I did not get much help, but that's to be expected. If you feel it's owed to you, I would beg to disagree. Dairel

Duke1law,

Those who answer posts offer their time out of the goodness of their heart. The pro techs such as Steve Brotherton are especially generous given that when you get their help here, they are offering it for free. When you go to their shop, I'm quite sure it is not in spite of the fact that it takes their TIME to provide answers here. You should be EXTREMELY greatful for their help when they have the time to help. I know that I'm very greatful.

The last thing is, did it ever occur to you that by making a comment such as you did, then there will people that will INDEED ignore your questions? You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!

All that said, I have been observing some of the frequent posters and helpers here for over three years and even AFTER your caustic comment, it would NOT surprise me in the least to see them answer your questions anyway whenever they get enough information from you AND have suggestions to offer.

As for me, I don't pay a lot of attention to the name of the person asking the question. If it is something I can help with, or something of interest to me, I will chime in.

Have a great day,
