I have always had special cars catching special attention from those who know. If someone want to race, I usually give them a brief taste of the accelleration and then go back behind them. Normally they are then keen of showing their speed and I can cruise in comfort at a good pace keeping them in sight and let them catch the attention of radars/lasers/unmarkt police cars...

It works very well...

Hey Duke,

I'm assuming "your friend" (who we both know) got you back up and running. Cool.

On to your question, I DD a tweaked Dodge diesel, everyone things its slow outta the hole and trys to grab the lane that ends soon so they can zip over in front of it and imediatly ease it down to 10 under the limit. (freakin morons) However, you oughtta see their eyes when it waxes their ass from the hole shot. As far as "stopping them" good luck, unless you become a Supreme Court Justice with a lot of pull and mandate the death penalty for sheer stupidity it aint happening.

Dark tinted windows seem to work well. If they don't know if they've succeeded in attracting your attention, it seems to take the fun out of it. Federali's may not appreciate it though.

AMG,

I have used that technique so long I gave up using my escort 5 years ago.

i'm sure you could include 'Squished' in the derivation of Squid too.

as for boy-racers, i get it all the time on my bike at traffic lights, so what i do is look at them nod and start revving my engine.
when they hear a 900cc four cylinder revving up to 10,000 rpm and back down again in less than a second, they get all excited, a strange look of determination comes over their faces as they prepare themselves for the slaughter.

then as the lights change, i do nothing, just watch them making an idiot of themselves. it's great fun sometimes you can do it again and again to the same person before he gets the message. the more he does it the funnier it is.

as for my other mode of transport, the 'benzo' 200T, well strangely, i don't get challenged alot, in fact ever!

maybe i should source a go-faster bodywork kit?

Thumbs down It's USELESS no matter what you do!

Testosterone-laden adolescents (and immature adults) will take ANY visual cue as a challenge to race!

My mundane 300E looks as plain as any old MB sedan...but it's RED!!! So periodically, I get the stoplight sneer (even from grannies! )!

And woe to me if the drop-top goes out on a Friday night! Then I have to smell burnt tire tread all around me at every light!

The worst was when I drove the VW on a regular basis...it too, was red, must more importantly, it sat on Enkei rims and fat white-letter tires, droned like an angry bee with the four pipe-exhaust, and was clad with the license plate "1HOTVW"! Boy did THAT ever attract the ricers!

That's why I like driving my Montero '91. I just putt-putt around town with the kids and laugh at the rice cookers.

The best is when I drive the E500 or E55 with the kids (Car Seats) and the kids wave to them with big smiles as we pass them and play with them. After that it seems that they just stay behind us and does not want to make eye contact....I wonder why?

Another thought is most states have these "Police Officer" associations that you can join for a small donation. I think they use the money for things like college scholarships for kids of officers killed in the line of duty, things like that.
Anyways, you give 'em a donation, and they give you a real official-looking sticker to put on your rear window that shows you donated to the association. Of course people will put these on the rear window so if they get pulled over, Officer Dirty Harry notices the sticker and may let you off the hook with a warning.
The ricers in question may also notice this sticker and think "Uh oh, off-duty cop" and back the hell off for fear of off-duty cop noticing plate number and store that in the memory bank for "things to do" between guarding the Krispy Creme and gassing up the Crown Vic.
You could also consider other tactfully applied decals like from the NRA and a parking permit from the local mental hospital, right next to each other.

Gilly
