Dead power window - 300e
The passenger side front power window on my 91 300e 4matic is stuck in the down position. All 3 other windows work fine. Replaced the fuse, tried pushing the window switch while opening/closing the door to jiggle any loose wires, etc. There is no noise whatsoever when I press the window switch. Any idea on how to proceed?
Thanks in advance Jay |
Take out that window switch and replace it with another one of your window switches. The switches themselves sometimes go dead. If that doesnt work:
Take that door panel off press the switch and listen if you hear the window motor working If you hear it making a noise, then lubricate the window regulator My cars regulator was stuck about 4 months ago.(I dont know why) and I did those steps and then I sprayed it down with WD-40. Its been fine ever since. |
I had a stuck regulator as well and I sprayed it down witrh WD40 as Mike above. It got the regulator working, but now I can't seem to get rid of the smell of the WD40. In retrospect, I would try to find something else to lubricate with. 3 months later and when the car sits a few days, the smell is quite noticeable. Tod

Thanks for the replies, guys. It was a dead switch. Pulled off the console cover, pried off the bad switch, picked up a new one at the dealer, and everything was fixed within an hour. So now I can enjoy the a/c during the 90 degree heat we getting here in Minneapolis this weekend!
