ramps for W140

I have to get another set of ramps. My current set of ramps from Kragen barely fit the 215s of our minivan so it'll be tricky getting the S420s 235s on them. Plus the last time up one ramp was a little off and bent under the weight of the Caravan. I didn't notice until I was putting away the ramps and boy did that open my eyes. Any known good brands or sources?

Thanks,
Sixto

As I've said before, I love my home-made ramps. Super stable & indestructable.

Get some 2 x 12" lumber.
Cut the first piece 48", the second piece ( on top ) 42", the third 36" etc..
Mine are stacked 5 high, which gives me the clearance needed for most jobs you want to do without a lift.
Also, nail a piece about 3" wide to the end of the very top one, to serve as a wheel-stop. ;)

Those ramps must be 50-lb each!

Did you cut them with a bevel? Seems like 4cm or whatever the actual height of a 2x12 is something a tire will climb without issue.

Yes, I cut them with a Skill-saw on a 45 deg. angle.
They are fairly heavy, but I don't carry them around just for exercise. ;)
I've used them for about 2o years & have no intentions of replacing them in the foreseeable future. :D

Sixto,

Check out your local Pep Boy's, look for Rhino Ramps. They are a polyurethane material and seem to be very strong. I have no qualms about puting the 560 on them, nor the Suburban. They have a wide ramp surface which should fit the 235's.

I think they set me back about $20.

manny was way ahead of his time! http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/News/mwramps/

Rhino ramps, for those of us w/o manny's biceps, have a vehicle rating of 12,000 lbs. GVW., I believe. (double check it on the package, though)
