Thanks for the help, I replaced the valve cover gasket, cleaned the engine and no leaks...from the valve cover gasket...there is a small leak from the passnger side - bottom of the camshaft cover gasket. I would like to change this out too. Since I haven't received my CD-Rom manual, can anyone walk me throught the steps to changing this gasket... after removing the valve cover (again)....thanks.

There is at least one special tool for installing the cam seal...I would let a pro do this... You also need the Mercedes Special Sealer for this. It is formulated to allow for large amounts of metal to metal float and still seal.

Just so you know, Myron - this leak is endemic to the 2.6
Why it was never fixed by MB's brilliant engineers I'll never know. I guess they had to keep their service people in business for SOME reason... |
