How do I remove the back seat to gain access to the hat shelf? I have used the little red levers and have successfully removed the bottom part, but what about the back? Thx! 92 300E

I believe there are retainer straps at the bottom of the seat back which are bolted to the body. Remove the bolts and she should come out. Alternatively, there may be retainer springs instead of bolts. Either way release the seat at the bottom and lift up. It should come free.

Seat back is usually secured at bottom by small screws in metal tabs beneath lower corners at each end and one in the middle. The unit is hanging via gravity on "clips" along front edge of hat shelf area. Remove screws; lift unit up and off of hanger "clips". Very easy. Good luck.
BTW, if it has been removed before, the middle screw may be missing. That has been the case with two of mine. ------------------ Wilton Strickland Goldsboro, NC 91 350 SDL. 81 300D |
