HELP with multimeter readings
 

Hello Board,
Today I bought the Craftsman multimeter from Sears(3482139) from the "favorite multimeter" thread. Well, I set it to duty cycle to read percent. With my car was warmed up I ,plugged the red into #3 and the black into #2. It reads only 7.6 % !!! What is wrong??

I then set the duty cycle to "Hz" and it reads around 97.61, what could be wrong??

Don't read Hz, read %. To get a good lambda reading with your duty cycle meter you must warm up the engine first.

If after warming the engine you still have single digit duty cycle reading, then this is a trouble code that you will need to decipher.

Larry is smack on the duty cylce reading should be % and the car should be at operating temperature before start taking readings.

Hello Board,

Does anyone know what a 7.6% duty cycle could be? I tried adjusting the mixture with the 3mm hex,but the duty cycle stayed at 7.6%.

Does anyone have an idea what that 7.6% duty cycle means?? Or will I have to pay $$$ for a diagnostic at the dealer(not that I want to)?

in general, it would indicate that the vehicle is in open loop. If indeed the vehicle was in opne loop then that is a extreem lean condition
