I need some help. I am in the process of changing the evaporator in my '86 300e since I had a leak and the system was totally empty.
All was going well, I was taking pictures to document my masterpiece until...I took the heater exchanger out. Now I am stuck, I cannot removed the black cover to remove the evaporator. It seems to be attached to the blower as a unit. My question is does the blower has to come out? or how do I get the evaporator out from this point on? TIA J.Hidalgo 300E 86 |

Take the covering off of the blower and remove it. You will need to take the whole black housing out of the inside of the car. This way you can replace the evaporator on the bench...Reassemble the heater box and install again. There are screws and clips that hold the box together .

Thanks Benzmac! I just come back in town and read your reply
I take it I have to go through the engine side, remove the wiper assembly, remove the blower and then remove the black box. Its that correct? Any tips from a pro??? TIA J. Hidalgo |
