Water on passenger footwell

94 E420

I took out both carpets in the passenger footwell today while I was checking something out and noticed the sound deadener material as well as the foam on the back of the lower mat were soaked.. wet.

Any ideas what I need to check to see where this would be coming from? It seems to be closer to the inner side of the passenger footwell (radio side).

I too have a 94 E420 and I also found water, but it was on the driver’s side. I have no idea where it came from, and I think it hasn’t come back since I cleaned/ dried it. Maybe it was weather-stripping or something. I don’t know, but it seems to be gone. Sorry I am not any help, but it was very strange. :confused:

Not sure about your model but on my 300E I was cleaning the A/C drain hose and the foam fell apart. Steve stated that I can install a new foam tubing (got it from the delear $11) by removing the tunnel carpet. I removed the tunnel carpet and the tube was located next to the gas pedal. I removed the broken foam and installed a new one.

Perhaps your drain foam is also bad or your A/C drain is blocked. On the 300E their are two drain hoses one by the driver side and one by the passenger, again, located behind the tunnel carpeting.

In years past those drains were made of rubber that almost never failed. Another example of MB becoming more like Chrysler. Just my opinion.

Under the console, to the rear and on each side of the radio. You can replace them them with a rubber hose with the proper diameter. The MB foam tubing does not last!:(

I'm still confused though. If everything is working correctly, where should it be draining? Why should there be a drain in the passenger compartment?

All refrigeration units create condensation which has to drain off somewhere. A/C units have a little drain pan with drain tubes to the underside of the car. Ever notice the puddle of water under your parked car after you've used the A/C? I don't know what brand refrigerator you have in your house, but if you pull the little grill at the bottom, you'll find a tray you can pull out and there will be water in it. In a kitchen that doesn't move except sometimes out here in California the water evaporates faster than it fills the pan so no drain hoses required. Cars are moving and would slosh water. Hope that answers the question.

ok, I found some tube that seemed to be falling apart about where you said it was. Can you tell me where it starts and where it ends? About how long is it?
