Paranormal Window Activity w140

Ok, here's a new one for me, after a relaxing dinner i returned to my 1992 300se and the passanger side rear window was half down. I know it was up, im not seeing things (i guess)! Well everything worked normally except it went up some and then back down when i tryed to raise it...the second time i pressed the express up button it did however roll all the way up, but why was it down? Any insight? Thanks in advace...

This usually occurs when the window binds on the way up. Its a safety feature that is built in the system to prevent little heads from being cut off. The window will automatically roll back down. Clean the channel and lube with a quality silcone or other lube that is made for that type of material.

If your car has the original rear window lift mechanisms there is a good chance that they need to be replaced due to a broken nylon link in the lift cables. I had to replace the lift mechanisms in both rear doors on my wifes '93 300SD. The replacement parts are about $70.00 each and are a vast improvement with the nylon part being replaced with aluminum. The windows would creep down gradually hitting bumps. I would just press them up and they would stay in place due to friction in the tracks. When I finally found out how to get the door panels off without breaking anything I installed the new parts. Door panel removal has been covered on this forum in the past. Use the search function.
