W124 What else if replacing Subframe Mounts?

Hi,

I am having my Diff Mounts and Subframe Mounts and Shocks replaced per MB Dealer diag. I will also have the torsion bar mounts done.

Question is: Is there anything I shoudl have done while the labor is already spent to have the car is apart back there? Car is a 1986 300E.

Thanks!

Be sure and check all the suspension links bushings- five links on a side, ten bushings per side.

Look to see if the differential is leaking, a good time to do the seals.

While the whole assembly is down, replace the rubber flexible brake lines.

Check the axels and make sure they do not need repacking, and also check the rear wheel bearings.

Keep us posted,

Haasman

Thanks haasman,
What are you doing up so late? (~_-)

Check Multilink -- will do

Diff Seals -- will do but had fluid changed last year at dealer and no mention of leaks

Inspect/Replace old brake lines -- this I had not thought of -- thanks very much

Inspect/Repack Axels -- where is this? At the Hub or inboard? Do you mean rear CV Joints?

Inpsect rear wheel bearings -- yup, replaced one last year. Hub was shot too. These shodul be fine. Had rear brake pads/shoes/rotor+drums done at same time.

One other thought- if you are inclined to enhance your car's handling you might want to consider upgrading the front and rear sway bars. Sportlines are a good way to good and available from this site or of course a dealer.

Since you are going to lower the rear suspension et al, it is a good time. You have to lower the assembly to gain access.

Job is done by my oh so wonderful indie. Good Price. Yes, tipping the mechanic is a good idea. Replaced everything that had rubber on it except the spring pads. Car needs alignment still (Tuesday) but is magnificent. No more yaw, wallowing, clunking. The gearshift also no longer moves all over the place when shifting or hard breaking. The tran even shifts properly now.
