This is going to sound bad but..... be more specific. Is it blowing heat out the sides and cold from the middle or what? Providing you dont have a electrical failure and have power to the mono valve the only other thing would be either the temp control unit or push button panel. Maybe a bad mono valve itself.

The temperature of the a/c air is regulated by controlling the coolant flow through the heater core. This is done by a valve mounted on the firewall. To isolate the problem, block coolant flow to the valve somehow and see if your vent temps come down.
Hope this helps, |

Fairly common problem in the 126 chassis, probably needs a repair kit for the mono-water valve.

Also, are you using the switch on the push-panel - 3 arrows chasing each other in a circle?
You'll be amazed at how much cooler your vent temps are with this activated. This blocks off fresh air. After running awhile, the system will shut it off to ensure you're periodically getting some new outside air. Until I discovered this, I had zip for a/c or was having my hair blown off using higher fan speeds to keep cool. Last edited by 1991300SEL; 07-21-2003 at 08:26 PM. |

Thanks guys.. I blocked off the heater hose, using a pair of vise grips, and two flat pieces of aluminum.. Vent temps are much cooler now..
Still nothing to brag about, but that did make a difference.. I have been using the recirculate function, but according to my service manual, the Rec. function is engaged anytime you choose the minimum setting on the wheel.. The recirculate function draws 80 percent inside/ 20 percent outside air.. Now, I'm off to the search function to troubleshoot the Mono-Valve. I put a repair kit in last fall, because I was getting NO heat.. Anyone want to give me an overview of how to troubleshoot this??? I'll also welcome simple ideas to block the heater hose off more permanently.. I just want to buy some time..

manual control of heat water line
Any good part store has a manual shut off that you put into water hose at firewall. shut in summer, open in winter. This will possible eiminate the mono valve, and give you a permanent fix. good luck, Abe G
