'73 450sl engines surges at idle until up to temp
Injector points were just replaced and a sticking air control valve was replaced, the engine hunts (surges) until it gets to 80 degrees Centigrade then smoothes out and runs fine...
Any ideas??? Thanks, George

That car has a thermostatically controlled additional air valve that operates when the engine is cold, common failed part. MB part number 000-141-03-25 with list of $202.

What is the idle speed when the car is fully warmed up (in park or neutral)?
Sounds like it might be set too high....
