My handbrake pulls up more than six clicks. Guess it's time to get it adjusted? Where do I begin looking for the adjustment nut and how do I tell if the pads need to be replaced? Thanks.

This one uses shoes inside the drum to hold...You can adjust with a 13mm in the center of the car. It has two cables coming out of it. You may need a lift to get to this adjustment.

on the rear wheels after jacking them up,open one bolt (out of the 5).click down the brake 2 clicks.
with a screw driver you can turn the gear wheel inside the brake drum ..check with a light at the 11 oclock position....till the wheel stops turning. very simple. |
So does it mean it can be adjusted at two points, as Benzmac said, under the center of the car, and at the brakes themselves? thanks.

roland,
Either method will tighten 'em up. Good luck, ------------------ Larry Bible '84 Euro 240D, 516K miles '88 300E 5 Speed '81 300D Daughter's Car Over 800,000 miles in Mercedes automobiles |
