I took out my water pump to renew the gasket. Do I still have to put some kind of gasket maker or silicone gasket on the screws? Someone told me that this is critical since water might seep through the screw holes .......

What do I use? Silicone based gasket maker?

Thanks!

We use the Hylomar GM oe blue sealer on bolts. It sticks well to the threads. Also, I have seen pipe dope used on this. (Use only enough to coat the threads)
