380SL Fuel Distributor problem

I'm asking this question for my Dad. He has a 1983 380 SL which is currently at a local shop. Diagnosis is a bad fuel distributor. The shop tried getting a used one which also turned out to be faulty. Is there anyway to rebuild these things??? Not sure he wants to sink another $1,500 into a new one. Or can someone here recommend a source to try for a used/reconditioned unit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome aboard!

Try this, for rebuilt units:
http://www.easternimports.com/default.aspx
Try www.pgauto.com for used parts or many other recyclers.
You can also try ebay, if you want to risk it...
Good luck!

What were the symptoms of your problem?

Just curious to know how the shop came up with the diagnosis for a bad fuel distributor.

My Dad said there was a bad miss in the car (as opposed to a Bad Miss ) put new plugs and wires in before taking it to a local shop. They said it was a bad Fuel Distributor as it wasn't getting fuel to one of the clyinders..................not exactly sure the proceedure they used to determine this.
