I know Circuit City, cashing on the FaF craze, now carries Eurolite, or at least my local store does. Has anyone used LEDs on a Benz? Are there any reputable suppliers?

I pulled the cluster on my 87 300e & I seem to have disconnected a long vacuum hose & I can't see or figure out where it goes. Anyone know? Thanks.

The vacuum hose attaches to a brass ferrule at the back of the economy guage. It reads manifold vacuum and lets you know if you have a heavy right foot. If you look at the bottom of the back of the instrument panel, just inboard of the round multi-pin connector, you should see it.

odometer repair, anyone?

this is a good thread on instrument cluster removal.
can someone take over to include repair of
odometer or trip meter, while the cluster is out?

Thanks Phalcon 51. I just love this forum.

Thanks, man. Great photography.

Will come in handy soon for me. Have not read manual, but I never would have guessed it's just a friction fit. Would have been searching everywhere for screws...

Really well done! Firstly I can't take photos as well as you can, and secondly, I can't insert text and line-art as well either!!!!!:D

Nice post!

You can upgrade your dash lights with Xenon bulbs. I did that using this $42 kit from **************.com, which is probably a bit expensive but I like to support those who support MB enthusiasts. :) They also sell a pair of the bulbs separately for $13.

(Their site uses frames... navigate through their home page if you're interested.)

I haven't had any problems with melting or anything, and the color is much more pleasing as well. No more dingy yellow.

As someone mentioned, I need instructions on fixing my TRIP ODOMETER ONLY. My regular odo works fine, but the trip odo clicks at 99.9 as I've seen mentioned.

While I am replacing the bulbs (one is out) I want to fix the trip odo, too.

What a super original post!

Excellent description. Worked great on my 91 300D 2.5 Turbo. Should add something about changing your idiot light bulbs along the bottom as well.

At the dealer they gave me 5W bulbs as standard replacements. They are really bright--have to turn it down to about half to match the oncoming headlights..... :)

Thanks again...

let's pull the panel...

Thank you for the photos, they were a great help, particularly with the important items labeled. I knew what I was looking for back there. It can take some courage to keep pulling on that panel but it will come out. I did not have to unhook any cables but was able to get to the bulb sockets with a bit of finger cramping. I made my hooks from a dry cleaners coat hanger, I would suggest over bending the hook at the end beyond ninety degrees so that it gets a good grip on the edge of the panel. This was done on the 300TE Roy

All great cars and still going strong

I hope your dealer realizes that 5W bulbs are incorrect equipment for these cars, and will melt the illumination prisms.
