87420sel driver side window won't run

hello

got a question. the 87 420 has a non working driver front window. i have traded with known good switches. nothing. replaced the fuse that covers that window. nothing.

is there a relay? and if that functions ok is there a test proceedure to prove the motor is faulty without tearing the other door liner off.

any clues would be appreciated.
tks

I do not think there is a relay for the window motor, you already checked the switch and fuse next come to test the motor. Do you hear a click sound of any kind when you press the window switch?

There are 2 wires screwed to a connection box on the bottom of the door, towards the hinges. Put a volt meter on it and press the switch, if you are getting 12V then you have problem with motor. If you are not getting the voltage, start trouble shooting backward, becuase your motor is OK but some thing is wrong with circuit. Another way of testing the motor is to connect 12V to motor and see if it runs.

Craig - As you face the fuse/relay box from the front of the car, you will see four relays/relay holders on the right side. The power window relay is the second from the front.

Immediately to its left is the power seat relay and it is identical (check for yourself).

Try inserting the power seat relay in the window relay holder and see if the windows work before spending on a new one.
