Glossy Finish on woodgrain

I was wondering if their is anything I can do or use to polish the gloss finish that is on the intrerior woodgrain. My 87 300 SDL seems to have developed either some kind of build up on it or the color has faded can't seem to tell. Any ideas.

Johnson paste wax, or any other furniture polish should work fine.

If that does not work, try an application of Meguiar's plastic polish - I use it on motorcycle visors and it does a wonderful job of removing haze and scratches - the latter especially troubling when riding into a setting sun.

If you are seeing a white haze on the wood grain, it is probably due to changes in the thick urethane coating on the wood. This will not polish out. Replace or have an experienced refinisher redo the wood.

try to fix before you replace

hello

i agree with thomas. the haze that you see is called milk. happens from the light getting to it over the years. what you need to do is actually polish/sand past this haze then polish the surface out to clear.

micro-surface has kits that is perfect for this. i've personally tried simichrome and various other polishes but they just don't take enough surface fast enough. micro has small kits under 20$ to do this with. you can also call them and get the skinny on their stuff.

just a side note. we polish welding helmets lenses and other plastics at work all the time. the trick is not taking too much off and over polishing.

good luck
