Bow(as in arrow) shaped foam from front underside of hood fell off
recently>Used ties to hold it in place temporarily.Has anyone used other ingenious material to fix/replace this foam?Am thinking of waterpipe insulation from Home Depot at 33cents. GAPA seems to sell this "hood pad" for $35.Are they the same beast.Seems a tad steep for a piece of foam. 3M makes an aerosol chemical called "Emblem and Weatherstrip Adhesive" this chemical does an excellent job of holding the hood pad or insulation in place.

Tom, I just replace the hood pad on my 300E with the one from GAPA. It's identical to the OEM one that fell off and disintegrated. The factory pad is about $59.00, so you're OK there. It seems we've got a rash of hood pad posts in the past couple of days. Get the 3M Weatherstrip spray adhesive (high temp spec) spray everything but the dog, pad and underside of hood), oops, clean the sheetmetal first. 3M adhesive remover. Wait about 10 minutes for the adhesive to tack, put your hood in the upright position and start at the windshield end. It helps if you have an assistant as this object (pad) tends to flop around. Have fun..
