The formula at the Landiss site is correct!

I just did a key-on test on my X11/3 to confirm the formula :

Battery voltage : 13.7V
Pin 3 voltage : 4V
Ratio : (4/13.7) x 100 = 29% (???)

If you use the formula :

[1 - (4/13.7)] x 100 = 70%

which is correct coz it's a federal car!

So the formula is correct!

You're definitely onto it. Whenever using electronic test equipment, relying on calculations adds a hefty margin for error or confusion. When you just flat don't have the correct instrument that is when you fall back on doing the math.

For some things it's usually your only practical choice, such as measuring very high current using a hefty .1 Ohm resistor and then doing the math. You use the .1 so that the math is simply a movement of decimal places.

Thanks for the help!

Well, I finally found the time to troubleshoot my engine management problems. I checked the TPS, It was working correctly. I then realized what i did to the engine that made it run in "open loop" (I believe that is what it's called.) operation. I placed a resistor on one of the thermal sensors on my cyl head to compensate for the original hesitation problem 3 years ago. I have since removed the resistor and was then able to adjust my CO back to the 45-50% range. A little rich won't hurt, right? Anyway, I am very pleased with the results! My car uses less gas and doesn't make you gag from the exhaust fumes anymore. Surprisingly the cats and the O2 sensor seem to be intact as well. That amazes me after heavily driving the car for 3 years in that condition, 18%,,, WOW, That’s rich!
I would like to thank everyone for their input, I couldn't have fixed it without your help!
