W123 how do I remove the side view mirrors

Hello,

In the next few days I plan on installing new side view mirrors on my mom's W123 240D 1978.

My question is how do I remove the existing mirror on the driver side and the chrome plate on the passenger side (there is no side view mirror on the passenger side).

I don't want to start prying the plate possibly breaking a plastic clip or something.

Any comment/advice would be greatly appreciated.

ok from memory. remove the plastic on the adjuster. do this by finding the groove on the front of this plastic part and push the 'retainer' insert toward the window glass. should be able to use a finger nail here. with the plastic part removed pry the shinny plate from the door. fasteners are now visible. and you be home. good luck.

IT IS EASY .

PULL THE HANDLE OFF THE MIRROR ADJUSTER .
CAREFULLY PRY THE CHROME PLASTIC COVER OFF .
THERE ARE THREE SCREWS UNDER THE COVER .
THE SAME IS TRUE FOR THE RIGHT SIDE .
IT IS EASY TO INSTALL A RIGHT SIDE MIRROR !
IT WILL BOLT IN THE PLACE OF THE CHROME OUTER
PIECE .
