E 320 Coupe hard starts

My 1994 E320 Coupe auto euro specs (60kmls) will crank but not start intermittendly. Once it fires it runs normal and nothing can be found wrong. DC changed a connector to the fuel pump but then the problem reoccured. Then the patriot alarm was removed; next the wirering harness (insulation partially gone) was replaced. DC covered part. After reocurrence 3 coils including connectors replaced. Problem persisted. Then DC suggested to replace the ECU (VDO) at my risk. I sendt it to a specialist shop to check it came back as ok. A little late I found this forum. Instead of towing the car back to DC I resoldered all connections on the Siemens OVP relay # 520 52 45. Car works like a charm.....so far! Even secondary problem went away: when starting up hot the engine would stall when breaking and rolling to a traffic light for about 1 or 2 miles. Then this problem disappeared.

Anybody can tell me if this can be connected????

Thanks

Reinhard

Change the OVP to the new part # 000 540 67 45 ...
you have the original , which has been up-dated due to common failure rate..

The over-voltage relay MB # 000-540-52-45 SHOULD be replaced with 000-540-67-45. MB issued info (internal bulletin) on that problem back in 1996

You resoldered the connections on the OVP relay or the fuel pump relay? Never heard of that on the OVP before.

Did it have a fuse on the top?

I discovered the resoldering trick after living with the problem long enough that the car finally gave up completely. Hadn't heard of it before, but it seems common.

I have a '90 300 CE with the same problem. Does this car have the same relay? If so, where is it located?

Thanks!

do you have a no start or a stalling condition? you car has ddifferent fuel injection system. how much different i am not sure. the ovp is a silver relay with fuse on top and is found in different locations in the engine compartment. my 320 has it bolted to the abs computer behind a plastic divider behind the battery.(close to the firewall on passenger side)
good luck
reinhard
