The most common affected area on an SLC is in the rear wheel arches. Rocker boxes can be vulnerable as well, but in general they didn't have a horrible problem with corrosion. If there is bubbling in the rear wheel arches, it can usually be repaired, although cutting out the affected metal and replacing it is always the best way to go. Hope this helps! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 '74 Jensen Interceptor Mk.III '81 DeLorean DMC12 '85 BMW 745i Turbo |

Aaron,
Do you have any experience in replacing the ugly U.S. issue bumpers on a 1976 450 SLC with european version bumpers? Is this a difficult and expensive conversion? Are there any suppliers of euro bumpers? Thanks. Bill |
