About high off the ground (or at what angle) should one lift the front end to finish burping the cooling system (to move the air out of the high spots in the cylinder head)?

I use to have a steep drive and would simply drive the front of the car up onto my car ramps(116). I have access to a lift so i figure I would run the front end on and raise the lift. I'm sure there are some cautions that I haven't considered so I'm all ears.

Cheers,

This is a good idea & MB even recommended it on some 300E's when there was a gurgling noise. Filling the engine thru the t/stat housing & then installing the t/stat will also help.

There is a new tool that I have used for this and it is the best tool I have used in years. It is called an AirLift. It uses shop air to vacuum down the cooling system, then you hold it for a while and see if it leaks down, if so you still have a leak...If not, drop the hose in the coolant tank and it pulls the coolant in in 15 seconds!!!!!! After the coolant is in, the system IS purged. I have not seen it fail yet!!

If it is not priced so high that it is only feasible for a professional, how about offering it in the PartsShop?
