Code P1700 1995 C280
I have a check engine light that the local parts store read as a P1700 - manufacturer specific. Can anyone tell me what the problem/ solution is?
Thanks |

MB uses transmission up-shift delay to warm-up the catalytic converter. That car must hold the first 2-3 shift until 30MPH or after 2 days the CE light will come on & you will get P1-700. The kickdown cable has a vacuum element to lenghten the cable when the engine is cold & the car is getting ready to shift. There is also a vacuum switch-over valve that controls(EFI computer) the timing of the delay. Vacuum loss(leak) is usually the problem.
