Help! If I have the VIN number of a Mercedes 1980 to 1995 - non US registered - where can I find infomation on that vehicle and model type? ie. is it manufacured to US safety specs and what was the exact date of manufacture. I want to export a couple cars with me to Canada when I leave Japan, but they must meet US safety statdards to be eligible for import.

It will be tough to import one from Japan to Canada as Canada has stricter rules...

Sell all the cars and get one locally may be a better choice...

Thanks for the info, but Carfax does not work for foreign registered cars. Plus I can get a pristine 84/85/86 500SEC / 560SEL etc with approx. 60,000miles for about US$5000 via attending a local auction and having shipped on my own.
