W123 turn signals - Waving & flapping like a lunatic..

Hi - everything electrical in the W123 230E I have is fine, apart from the fact that the turn indicators are not working.

Either of them.

Does the individual turn signals have their own relays compared to the master hazard? The hazards are fine!!

They *both* literally failed today on the highway... so I am waving & flapping my arms about like a lunatic!

Where do I start?

cheers!

In addition...

Does the turn signal have it's own relay? I know the hazards do... but I don't know to change this component or not...?

anyone?!

cheers

According to the diagram in the Haynes manual, the same unit is used for the hazard flasher and turn signals. I dimly recall it being under the dash on the left on US cars. Dunno where they would put it in a RHD car.

Thanks Chuck - I'll have a gander and see what I can turn up..

anyone else *know* where this damn thing is?!

Sorry

I didn't read it closely enough - it is labeled "4-way flasher switch timer" so it may be integral with the hazard switch itself.

Hmm, thanks - when you say "under the dash" - do you mean the instrument cluster or behind the glovebox?!

cheers

No - sounds like it is part of the switch!
