Question dome light unit ( I did the search alright still have questions)

Ok I did the search and found out how the remove the dome assembly part # P9040-38546. Great!!!! I did this to make sure that I could do it with little problem.
The reason I'm checking this is that my 260E 89 fuze # 9 is blown. I checked in my copy of the E-class owners bible and found that it says to replace the dome light unit since the dome light, radio,seat belt waring buzzer are all inop.
What is the hose to and how do you remove it and the wiring unit? I looked at it and it seems to have two "chips" but I can only get to one side of it. thanks for any help

Fuses often corrode and blow out all by themselves, so a blown fuse does not always mean a short.

Fuses don't cost much.

If I were you, I would just replace the fuse and see if it blew out again.

You could check the current drain and perhaps find a short by bridging the fuse contacts with a voltmeter. You could install a new fuse and then bridge the dome light contacts.

A corroded fuse is most likely, at least in my experiance, but anything on the circuit could cause a fuse to blow out.

Your seat belt warning buzzer could have a disconnected contact. A problem with the radio would be more likely if it has been replaced. The light ands its switch are fairly simple items and it is less likely that they could be bad. The door light switch could have become rusty due to humidity inside the door.

Look at a wiring diagram. Good luck!

I agree with Richard. Just replace the fuse and hold out for a while. Did you buy the new dome light yet? I see them on Ebay on occasion.

As to your other questions, the 2 plugs/harnesses should pull right out. The vacuum hose is used to PULL interior air across the interior temp sensor which is in the dome light. The other end of the vacuum line is connected to the Aspirator motor. Test it by checking for suction on the vacuum line with a small piece of tissue.
