door locks on my '92 - 300SL are not active

THE REMOTE IS WORKING BUT THE MECHANICS OF THE SYSTEM ARE NOT RESPONDING. ACTIVATION LIGHTS ON DOORS AND TRUNK CHANGE FROM GREEN TO RED BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. FOUND A VACUUM LEAK IN DRIVER'S DOOR. STILL NO RESPONSE. IS THERE A MASTER MODULE SOMEWHERE? WITH NO MANUAL FOR THE #129 IT'S SIMPLY GUESSWORK FOR ME. THANKS, BARRY

Door Locks

I hope you have better luck than I have. My 94 SL500 has had an intermittent problem, but now seem to not work with the IR (infra-red). I can find no manuals or CD's. If you find some useful information I would greatly appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
Gary:confused:

There is a vacuum pump and a vacuum storage unit ( bottle ) and distibution manifold in the trunk above the battery area. Vacuum hoses get old and brittle, then break or crack and leak. The tee fittings are also known to break. There are check valves at various points in the system that often fail. How's the fuse and the motor on the vacuum pump? If the motor runs a lot or continueously, there is a bad leak. You may need one of those hand held vacuum pumps to work around the system and look for leaks. They are available from auto supply stores. I don't have a vacuum diagram either, but doing one line at a time from the manifold should help you narrow it down. Tod

The vacuum lines and pump seem to be fine. All the solenoids operate from the drivers door key lock. Passenger door will unlock all, but only lock that door. I don't normally do much at the trunk lock. Fuses are good, I think a relay might have gone bad. Without any tech data I am reluctant to do any hit or miss. Had it in to do some diagnostics but they didn't tell me anything.
