380SL Lambda Location
I have a wire short from the Lambda unit to the idle control unit on my 380SL. It is intermittent. Sometimes I get 4 volts at pin 2 on the idle control unit and it runs fine, then I get 0 volts and I get the high idle. I Checked the relay. God I hate to work on 107 body SLs everything is stuck where you can't get to it! Anyway somewhere between the idle control unit and the Lambda unit I have a short.
Stupid question but where can I find the lambda unit on a 380SL. Thanks, Michael 69 280SE Coupe 61 220SEb 66 300SE cab 91 300SEL friends 380SL |
Passenger footwell under the carpet.

Thanks!
Found the Lambda unit hidden in the floor. Rewired to the relay and now the idle control unit works correct and the 380SL has a nice 750rpm idle and no hisitations what so ever.
Thanks again Michael |
Uh, actually it should be 750 until about 40 degrees water temp, when the temp sensor in the back of the right head switches from 12 to 0 V output and the idle then drops to 450-500. This is on an '81.
You might want to check if you are getting into closed loop. |
