Hi, have a 1995 C36 that sounds kinda funny. The sound emitted is like a ticking sound (a low pitched diesel engine sound), i am not sure if it is the lifters or if it is inherrent in the design of the engine. The sound is always there regardless (although it is only audilbe from the outside). Could it be the lifters not getting enough oil, and if it is the lifters is this gonna be costly?

Jman,
couple of questions... how many miles are on the car? And, does the ticking increase with engine speed, and does it do it at all engine temps.? -Larry ------------------ 03/83 300D 184k 07/73 280 160k |

ticking is there regardless of engine rpm, at higher rev's the ticking i believe is muted by the engine growl. The car has ~60000 KM on it.

Oops forgot to mention that it occurs at all temperatures, regardless of initial start-up of after a 2 hour drive.
thanks |
