300E AC vents
Does anyone know how to remove the center vent? The part that moves from right to left is broken and I need to get inside.
It seems like it should pop off, but something seems to be holding in place. Don't want to break it. |

The airbag is in the place of the glove box. It doesn't look like there is a glove box.

certer AC vent removal
On my 87 300E the center vent (which I recently replaced) was held in place by 4 spring clips near each corner AND an allen screw which is attached to the wheel in the center which opens and closes the volume of air. Don't force anything, but all 5 of the attachments must be undone. Best I recall you can get the allen screw first with a longish allen tool , then the corner clips can be opened with a slender needle nose pliers. good luck,

Thanks. I could feel something holding the center near the wheel that opens and shuts the vents. I just couldn't see it. The sides seem pretty easy to unclip.
Tomorrow I'll look for the allen screw. |
