That's an old picture I used to give a reference point to the FD being disconnected from the airhorn. The injectors are connected now and the tubes are gone.

Just to update, I have adjusted the plunger setting to where only the #4 injector is spraying. As far as I can tell the other injectors are not even leaking, so I'm thinking really bad injector. Anyway I have 6 new ones coming today and will install tonight. If I can get out of this without a new fuel distributor I might actually have something good to say about my Benz. :p Stay tuned!!

Update on injectors for 300E
OK new injectors are in but number four continues to spray all the time. What would cause one injector to be uncontrolled?? A ray of light though, it's a whole lot better looking spray pattern than I had.

I have had no luck fixing fuel distributers, but others claim to have. They can be had fairly cheap used except it is not a device that does well sitting with old gas in it.

I took mine apart AGAIN and carefully cleaned it again and VERY carefully reassembled it. Now I have FIVE brand new injectors spraying all the time. I'm giving up on being a fuel distributor expert. Now,............ new, rebuilt or used, that is the question~~~~~~~

Cap'n
Don't we all hate to thread down that road...looking for a FD . I got quoted $1.3k for a new FD and $550 used. I figure if you can get a used FD for 30 to 40% of the new price, it's a good deal. Noting Steve's point, I wonder if it is any good cleaning/soaking a used FD before installation. Sorry about the bad news, Cap.But I think I will be joining you down this well throdden path... Cheers. |

Here is a new solution that might be cheaper and at the same time offer some adventages. Get a Mega Squirt EFI, replace all the injectors with electronic type isntead of mechanical, build a new fuel rail for them and drive happily
I think it'll work xp
