16V owners, anyone have success replacing the potentiometer only.
I am curious. I know several 190e and 300e owners have had luck replacing the potentiometer only as opposed to replacing the whole air flow meter. But I can only recall reading posts from 16v owners giving up and buying the whole meter.
Please share. Tinker |
Tinker,
With the 16V air flow housing it is next to impossible to do any thing with the potentiometer UNLESS you remove the complete housing. After doing that 5-6 times at 2+ hours each, you can tend to get weary & just give up. I did it on my 1986 190E 2.5 16V just 2 weekends ago in 2 tries, about 3.5 hrs. MB # 000-074-23-14 is $755!!! so time can be your friend. |
M.B. Doc,
I know what you mean, getting at the pot in the 16V's can be a bear. I have removed my air flow sensor a few times for other reasons, so I have the time. It took you two tries to set your's up? Any tricks you could share? Thanks, Tinker |
