380SE hard to start & idle problems

I am running out of things to check. 150km on it. chains put on 15km ago. When I adjust timing to TDC it will idle rough and then die. I am going to check fuel pressure next I guess. Has new cap, rotor, and wires. Plugs also used platinum plugs. Car runs ok at 10btdc w/o vacum. With vacum it idles at 25btdc and ok smooth
just hard to start. With timing set right, timing with vacum at idle it is 15btdc and idles real rough then dies. Any help please. Also the fuel pump whines all of the time. Thanks for any help!!!

Turning the dist. to advance timing may smooth out the rough idle. If your fuels octane level isn't up to par you might also put a hole in a piston.

Well I got it to idle right. I found a couple of small vacum leaks. I found one that I am not sure of though. There is a line that is ran through the right bank plug wires. it ended their like it was broke. I also found a valve with a 2 wire plug on one side and a vacum line (rubber) and no hard plastic connected to it. Ran one there and it now idles better. But my wife still has trouble keeping it running when she restarts after a stop at a store. For 1/2 mile to a mile. Could the fuel pump be loosing pressure when it gets hot?? It seems to make more noise then. I guess I will have to keep her driving old faithful (SD) now at 290km. Octan is high or BP is not selling what they say. Thanks
