When the A/C is turned on my 1994 C220 the A/C fans don't come on at all. I first thought the engine wasn't hot enough so I let it run for a while and the engine got very warm under load and A/C..but still no fans (and no overheating/boil over thank god).

First think to check is the fuses and relay. Except I can't find them! A previous post said "There is a relay that is located under the top side of the fuse box. "...Can someone give me a more specific location in which to look?

Any other ideas/tests? I remember on My 190E you could get the fans to run by connecting two leads near the A/C evaporator (pressure switch?). Is there something similar in the C220?

Many Thanks,
Chandra

The lid of the fuse box that lifts up is on top of the cover for the entire fusebox assembly. I believe there are 6 screws total. When I test the AC I put it on the coldest temperature (min), put the blower on max, push the recirculating air button and let it run. If the AC has a full charge, the compressor and the auxiliary fan will cycle on and off. I often find the fuse in the relay blown, it is GM style 10 or 15 amp.

Thanks for the tip...I did have a burnt out fuse and I replaced it with a 20 amp fuse. I still can't get the A/C fans to operate. Under what conditions is the fan supposed to turn on?

Any ideas on what to check next?

Thanks,
Chandra
