Windshield heating?
 

Just been to my local MB dealer to get a repair kit for the monovalve on my w126, as I only get warm air from the climate control, and not hot.

After they typed in the VIN into the computer, I was told that I have a dual monovalve because I have a heated windshield, and that there are no repair kits for the diaphram, and I would have to buy a whole new valve for $195.00!!

I never even knew that I had a heated windshield, or that they were even available.

Does anybody know and different or what I've been told is true??

The base of the windshield on all 126's are heated by coolant.
There is a thin plastic bladder under the area the wiper blades rest on. The hoses that connect to the bladder come off of the watervalve for the heater. As far as I know all 126's are this way.
There is only 1 repair kit needed, it isn't a dual valve. Dual valves were used starting with the 129 and 140 chassis which have dual zone (right/left) heating.

Plus you can only see the windshield heater with the windshield removed. It resides under the lower, blacked out portion of the glass.

It's apparent purpose is to heat the area of the glass where the wipers sit, keeping them from freezing to the glass in cold weather.

Mike, maybe you wouldn't notice it's apparent purpose in sunny California, but take it from me, it WORKS!
