Unhappy My Head Hurts

I've got a 1993 E220TE, the rear tailgate is fine on cold days but when it's warm the tailgate comes down & hits me on the back of the head! Is this normal for a Merc? Must be some kind of punishment for all the good reliable days eh?

Anyone any ideas?

Most likely that was how it was engineered - it's that whole German S&M mantality!

How much do the tailgate struts cost & are they easy to fit? Must get this job done as it's driving me (get it) to distraction. Either that or I could tie a piece of carpet to the back of my head when going shopping!

I'd try Eurocarparts.com in the UK.

Glideman

Be sure and get the repair procedure to replace them. I have not done this but the right steps will make it a much easier job.
