To Steve: capping off fuel return line

I'm the guy with the '77 450 SEL (Euro). About a week ago, we spoke of removing entirely the 'auxiliary' fuel return line that had been rigged-up as partt of the epa add-on apparatus.

As you mentioned, if I don't remove the rig nozzle add-ons entirely, they have to be tightly capped at both ends to maintain pressure.

What could best be used to cap those nozzles? Is it OK to have a short segment of hose at each end, and then have them tightly stopped and clamped? Will pressure maintain OK? The nozzles alone are very small and hard to cap off without the hose segments.

Thanks.

In all the ones I have removed, removal was simple. It is possible you may need some original fittings. The pieces should be available in any MB shop.

Total removal and restoration of original design is what will work best over the long run and will probably be the easiest. The line from the top of the fuel dist screws into a removable fitting in the warm-up regulator. Somehow they teed into it there. All it will take to restore will be the original fitting from any used warm-up regulator, unless they cut the line (which is not the way I have seen them done). The end at the distributer is probably similar.

I can't advise you on the capping solution as I can't see what you are trying to do. Clamped rubber hoses do not work well at system pressure of K-jet.

Thanks,Steve. Just the info I needed.

I wish you were down here in Pembroke Pines or me up in Gainesville. You'd have my business in a second.

Can't you clone yourself?

I particualrly found your comment on clamped rubber hoses notholding pressure well inciteful.
