Asr Fault

HI GUYS NEW BLOKE HERE.CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS ONE
ON MY 93 600 SL PURCHASED 3 WEEKS AGO, I HAVE THE ASR LIGHT COMING ON 2 MINS AFTER FIRING UP. GOING IN WITH BOSCH KTS 300 I PULLED OUT CODE 21 WHICH IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH AIR CELL PRESSURE SWITCH OR SO THE KTS TELLS ME. WOULD THIS BE CORRECT OR DOES ANYONE HAVE A BETTER IDEA.
ALSO I AM LOSING VACUUM FROM MY BRAKES SERVO COULD THIS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ASR LIGHT. BY THE WAY THE CAR DRIVES NORMALLY, IT DOES NOT GO INTO LIMP HOME.ANSWERS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY ACCEPTED FRUSTRATED HAMMY.

Hey

Could you not write all in capitals, its really hard to read..! thanks

The KTS's diagnosis will be correct in that that code is what the car thinks is wrong (as opposed to what the Bosch machine thinks is wrong), so it's fairly safe to assume the air cell pressure switch is the problem causing the stored fault.

Can't really tell until you try another one in there, though, and I wouldn't like to guess how much it might cost.

Brake problems could lead to the ASR light coming on too though. Does the light come on if you leave the car running but don't drive it or use the brakes?

Pentoman

Sorry its taken so long to post any reply. I contacted my local dealer to find out if they could supply me with a pressure switch for my asr pump, they were clueless. they quoted me £1800 for the abs modulator & £900 for the asr pump, because they did not know if the pressure switch comes separate, or if both units come separate.would you happen to know, or does any one else. btw hows the writing cheers hammy. oh! i forgot, yes the light comes on while the car is just idling while parked. Also i need some tips on bleeding the suspension thanks again.
