W126 Intermittend Windshield Wiper Relay
 

Where would the relay be for the intermittend windshield wiper? I've done some research here on the site, but do not seem to get a definitive answer.

Wipers wipe once when put on intermittent and then quit, all other functions (slow, fast, wash) are fine. Am I correct to suspect the relay rather than the combo switch?

If it's behind the instument cluster, would a failure of the expansion valve (diagnosed by a shop) have put AC gooo all over the relay, causing it to fail?

This is for a 1989 560 SEL.

Part of the combination relay, 2nd largest black relay box in the relay section of the fuse box. MB part number 201-821-02(00 or 01)-47

My intermittent wipers don't work at all. If I use the washer I have to manually turn on the wipers to get them to activate. My headlight wipers don't work either. Does this sound as if it were the combo switch relay?

Don't know. Possibly. All I know is that my problem has been so rare and intermittent I have not yet chased it down further at this time. Just like my blinker/hazard relay.

Check if the behavior is moisture related. Seems to be with me....

I had the same symptoms. I tried to clean the contacts in the original relay with no luck, so I ordered a new one from an auto parts house in Arizona for $55.53 = free shipping and no tax. It fixed the issue.

It's the same part in the 201 and 124, might buy one on the parts forum.

the combo relay isnt a trad relay. its a circuit board with transistors, capactators with 3 finely spun spools of wire and a lever that creates the magnatic field.

You can get one on ebay for cheap.
