Are ALL 190Es 4-passenger cars, or just the 16V? I have a 1986 2.3-16V that is only 4-passenger (i.e. - has only 4 seatbelts). Can an additional seatbelt be added to the rear center position? Has anyone tried this? I've got three small boys and we can never take the 16V out for a Sunday drive because someone's gonna end up not getting belted (no jokes ). Just curious if it's possible to add a seatbelt in the rear. If the standard 190Es are 5-passenger, then it should be an "easy" proposition, right?

Brian

The standard 190s are indeed 5-passenger cars. The exceptions are the Sportline and the 2.3-16, which have the quad buckets.

I don't think you can simply add a seatbelt to the twin rear buckets. At least on mine, the bolsters are too aggressive to let anyone sit there in the first place. You would most likely have to install a standard rear bench seat in place of yours to allow for reasonably comfortable seating for 3.
