models w/side air bags?

I am a happy driver of a 92 300E; however I would like to find one with side air bags...when did these first become options?

1996 I believe, came with the replacment to your chassis, the 210.

I am not aware of any 124's that were fitted with side air bags but if anyone in here knows differently........................
