cylinder leak test - 190E

I've performed a compression test on my '91 190e 2.6. Numbers came ranged from 160-175. Are those good numbers?

I'd like to follow up with a cylinder leak test. Whats the best way to get the pistons to TDC? There doesn't seem to be a good way to turn the crankshaft by hand. Also is there anyway to truly verify you are in fact at TDC.

TIA
Doug S

Your numbers are relatively tight and probably ok.

You can bump the engine over with the starter and then remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor is pointing to that cylinder. You can also stick a long screw driver down the spark plug hole and see if the piston is near TDC. If you could crank it by hand it would be better. Just get a 27mm (?) socket on the crank nut and rotate clockwise and watch the screw driver rise and stop (TDC) before dropping. Should be close enough. Just don't force anything.
