300E Idle/Stalling Problem Solved!

The new owner, Jim Freeh of Chesapeake, Virginia, has loaded the car on his trailer. He has a good running '87, so he is going to swap parts until he finds the problem.

Solving the problem or selling the problem

Greetings Chuck,

Did you sell the car because of the problems it had or is Jim just that determined to find out what's wrong with it? Why, if his '87 is running so nicely would he want to dismantle it to repair an '86? Is Jim going to update this board as to his findings if and when he gets your car running again as it should? Hadn't thought about selling mine as a solution to it's problem, but time will only tell if it will become an option. Let us know what Jim's user name is if he's on this post so we know who to look for as far as possible updates to his change out of parts.

Charles

I sold the car because, as a daily driver, it had to be dependable. And no one in this area seemed to have a clue as to how to fix it without an open checkbook. And then no guarantees! I went as far as I felt was prudent. And there was an element of frustration, I'll admit. And I have lots of other projects. And a day job that's heating up.

I don't think Jim is going to trash his '87. His plan is to use the good components off his '87 to isolate the problem and then replace the aprropriate part(s). And he does not need the car as a daily driver, so he can take his time. He posts on the Ritter-Easley board, and we plan to stay in touch, so I will keep you guys informed as to his progress.
